A single filing this week, but a genuinely interesting one: Heaven Hill has registered a label for the first release in an all-new distillery-exclusive line — and the mashbill deserves a close read.

Heaven Hill's back label notes this is "different from the six traditional mashbills" they already produce, deliberately threading the needle between their wheated bourbon profile (which carries the same 20% wheat) and their standard rye bourbon profile (which shares the 10% rye). The result is a lower-corn recipe — 58% is notably lean by Kentucky standards — that uses both secondary sweetening and spice grains simultaneously rather than picking one or the other.

The spirit is aged six years in char #3 barrels and the filing lists ~52.5% ABV (≈105 proof), though COLA labels routinely carry provisional proof figures that can shift before a bottle hits the shelf. Distilled and bottled at DSP-KY-1 in Bardstown — Heaven Hill's home permit — the bottle is 700 mL, the format Heaven Hill has favored for distillery-exclusive and specialty releases. The back label makes the distribution plan explicit: this is "exclusively available at the Heaven Hill Springs Distillery," the brand's new $200 million Bardstown facility that began production in April 2025 and held its grand opening this year, marking the return of active distilling to the Bardstown campus for the first time since 1996.

Heaven Hill has already used the Springs Distillery as a platform for bespoke, can't-get-it-elsewhere releases — the opening was accompanied by the limited Master Distillers Unity bottling — so the Signature Series fits a clear strategic pattern: give visitors a reason to make the pilgrimage and walk out with something unavailable anywhere else. No official press release or confirmed price has surfaced yet beyond the COLA filing and an early retailer listing, so treat the release as pending until Heaven Hill announces it formally.

For the collector or the curious, the mashbill itself is the headline. Heaven Hill has decades of wheated and rye-grain barrels in inventory; a four-grain expression that draws from both traditions in a single new recipe is a genuine experiment, not just a label refresh.
